I also liked Ines's fierceness. But I too had a problem with the colonization aspects. Still, I don't regret the time I spent with this work--her use of language and her world building did move me into another time and place, which good historical fiction does so well.Vicky Alvear Shecterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17570828339389206203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8282761092944595871.post-71547501133611566702011-05-16T19:48:51.354-05:002011-05-16T19:48:51.354-05:00I am sorry that you had some trouble connecting to...I am sorry that you had some trouble connecting to the characters, and from your description, it sounds like this may not be the book for me. I enjoyed it -- mostly -- although I found it very hard to fully empathize with Ines because of her role with the conquistadors. (Reading Allende's Q&A at the end slightly helped since Allende, of course, appreciates the tragedy the Spaniards wrought.)Audrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07511122937603890352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8282761092944595871.post-15583127093299475152011-05-16T09:20:21.877-05:002011-05-16T09:20:21.877-05:00I absolutely loved this book!
