Circumbendibus
This word, which flows off the tongue quite easily, sort of like the word lilliputian (you know, you have to concentrate but it still makes your tongue feel used, unlike most words which actual come off the tongue too easily, which in my opinion is not 'flow' but rather ordinary and mechanical) has a rather appropriate definition - and so many words don't these days, for instance how in the world do you get 'not wasteful' from the word frugal; frugal sounds more like a slimy beast that lives in marshes and only eats toads - but anyway back to circumbendibus: the definition as I was saying is really fitting (like the word alluring to describe something beautiful, it fits because of the soft 'el' sounds I believe) circumbendibus means 'a roundabout way.' Undoubtedly perfect.

circumWHAT???!! lol
ReplyDeleteGreat word- thanks for sharing it! What's even better is your 'definition' of frugal. I think from now on we should define words by how they sound to us. I'll start with circumbendus.
ReplyDeleteCircumbendus- medieval method of torture, resulting in the victim's body being wrapped into a pretzel shape. The victim was then fed to a vicious frugal.
