Tag Chicken

Jenners awesomely created this image, and I shall now shamelessly use it to begin my belated round of Tag Chicken. Did you think I'd given up? HA! I'm just a horrible procrastinator. I shall never relent....

Which celebrity would you rather smack some sense into: Kim Kardashian (now pregnant by Kanye West … did she learn nothing from her 72-day marriage?) or Taylor Swift (who falls in and out love so fast and publicly that I cringe on her behalf)? I think I shall have to go with Kim for this one; although this is due in large part to my absolute disgust of Kanye West. I seriously hate that dude and by default, I hate those who would willingly lay with him all biblically.

Which books coming out in 2013 are you most excited about reading?  I fear I am not knowledgeable enough about upcoming books to give a genuine answer here. The only books coming out this year that I can even remember right now are Sever by Lauren DeStefano and Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare (and I'm not even up to date on the Clare books). I suppose I could do some research and find out what's coming, but since I'm like two years behind, it would probably just depress me.

If you had to dress from head to toe in one color for the rest of your life, what color would you choose? Black. Most definitely black. It's slimming, and I need slimming. If I were already slimmed, I would say red though. Just cuz it would be awesome.

What are three things on your bucket list and are you doing anything to get them crossed off? 1. Read Lolita. I now own the print version and the audio version, but alas I have not started reading. 2. Learn (basic) sign language. Well, I downloaded an app to teach sign language to children, and I can now sign Twinkle, Twinkle little star... 3. Be Healthy. Yeah, that's just an on-going headache but I am trying.

If you had to pick one word to guide you during this new year, what word would you choose? Focused. I'm generally an off-the-cuff, spontaneous, do what I want when I want, bounce from one activity to the next without completion, random sort of person, and that personality is not practical when one has a child. My lack of focus and scheduling means I constantly feel stressed, I rarely get things done, and I spend more time thinking about everything I have to do (and don't want to do) than actually doing anything.

And now for my questions to Jenners:

  1. Would you rather have a love song or a rock song written about you? And give me a few lyrics you think should be included in the song?
  2. What is the most effective way to vent your anger (you know, when you can't actually bitch slap the person you are mad at)?
  3. Are ghosts or aliens more believable? And which would you rather encounter?
  4. What is the key to a successful marriage?
  5. What do you think Satan's last name is or should be?

Tagging the Turkey

Okay, so I'm a little late to be using the whole Thanksgiving-Turkey thing, but alas, I have done it anyways. My  new questions from Jenners:

What five things in your life are you most thankful for? My family definitely tops that list. My job is probably a close second since I (for the most part) adore it. Books would come in third, good ones in particular; although I'm not totally against "bad" ones either. I'm going to lump all of technology into number 4, particularly those that make life better such as air conditioning and indoor plumbing. And number five, I won't lie people, number five is going to be male eye candy. And for your viewing pleasure, here are some pictures of hot guys that I've put up on the blog over the years:

What is the best part of the Thanksgiving meal?
Oh my god, the sweet potatoes with the little marshmallows on top. Thank the good lord for that one. I could just bury my face in a big pile of that yummy goodness and die happy.

Who is the biggest turkey in Hollywood? Well, there's some seriously fowl people in the Hollywood business, I think I have to give the award to Kanye West, the man is just a giant douche. Every time I have to hear him speak, a small part of world goodness dies.

When is the earliest acceptable date to decorate for Christmas? (Hint: I have rather strong feelings about this so BEWARE!) Okay, I may be really upsetting a lot of people here, but uh, I don't actually decorate for Christmas. Yeah, no tree, no tinsel, no lights, no santas lounging here and there, no mistletoe, no holly wreaths, nothing. I don't have anything like against it or anything; it's just not my thing. I will say, however, that I think those who do decorate should probably keep Santa in the box in the basement until like the end of the first week in December or so.

Pumpkin pie, apple pie or cherry pie? Cherry. Definitely cherry. This kid's got the right idea:
Now, five new questions for Jenners:
  • When is the earliest acceptable date to decorate for Christmas? (I just had to hear your "rather strong feelings")
  • What is the funniest book you've ever read and what made it funny?
  • Do you say Kleenex or tissue?
  • When hanging pictures on the wall, do you measure and level or just eyeball it?
  • If you could have anything you wanted for Christmas, what would it be? (And I'm not talking world peace or anything else a ditzy beauty pageant winner would say).

Speedy Tag

Jenners has really sped up the tagging ladies and gentlemen, so without further ado....

If you could trade a skill or personality trait with one of your friends, what would you take and what would you give? My friend Josh has apparently unlimited energy regarding social activities, and I have absolutely none. He has an amazing amount of friends and a full social calendar. I would like that social energy and overall friendliness. In exchange, I shall give Josh my modesty...too many have already seen too much....

What era of your life would you re-live and why? College. I loved college. The classes, the long stretches of free time, the lack of responsibility, the classes....Yep, I'm a geek. And knowing what I do now, I would definitely work on having a bit more fun and exploring the world around me outside of academia a bit. Just a "bit" more though because I loved classes.

What book would you like to see turned into a musical and who would you want to star in it? Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I can't honestly say why; that's just the book that immediately popped into my mind. And even after thinking about it for like 10 whole seconds, it's still my choice. As for who should star in it.....Maybe Ewan MacGregor as Aziraphale and Johnny Depp as Crowley...but that's in part because I like the whole I'm-an-actor-but-I-can-sing-a-bit-too thing....Maybe Ellen Page as Anathema....

What movie do you wish was a book? I have no idea. I keep staring at this question in dismay. It's like I've completely blanked. Totally. I kept thinking of movies and then realizing they actually are books, just not ones I've read. Are there any movies that aren't also books? Memento is based on a short story, but a full length novel with a similar narrative structure would be interesting. I suppose they could turn Magic Mike into a nice, dirty read.

If you had to cast your life as a movie, what actress would star as you? My first answer is Emma Stone, but only because I have had three people on separate occasions say I look like her....if she was a bit overweight, a bit shorter, and way less smooth (aren't they all so freaking smooth?)

5 New Questions for Jenners
  1. Family Guy, The Simpsons, or South Park?
  2. Cliffhanger endings or pointless second installments?
  3. Oranges or grapes?
  4. Plumber's cracks or hairy knuckles?
  5. Garden hoses or bonfires?
To be clear, I expect full answers to these undeveloped questions.....

Return of the Tag Chicken

I won't lie ladies and gentlemen. I really thought I had won. After over two months of taggish silence from Jenners, I thought she had thrown in the towel, waved the white flag, bailed out, called it quits, and so on and so forth. Then it happened. A new post. Jenners picked up the towel, hid the flag, emptied the bucket and uh...sucked back in the quits. Let the games re-commence.

  • Does an author’s personality have any affect on whether or not you read his/her book? Unfortunately, no. And I feel bad about this. I really do. Orson Scott Card is a total asshat, but Ender's Game is still one of the best books ever. Most of the time I don't know anything about the author, and that is fine by me. I'm not interested in their exigence, intention, or lifestyle. I just want their work.
  • Why do fools fall in love? Because spaghetti tastes better.
  • What kind of an old lady do you think you will be? I would love to say a kickass one; one of those old ladies who's still styling and active and living it up. I'm pretty sure though that I will be a total hermit, spending inordinate amounts of time holed up in some dark room, reading and watching tv. It's what I would prefer to be doing now, so I'm pretty sure it's what I will be doing when I have the option....
  • How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
    π/20dx1+(tan(x))2
  • Did you do a little victory dance when I let months go by without doing a Tag Chicken post—foolishing thinking that perhaps you had won this game? Yes. Yes, I did. I actually had a victory post drafted - which I'm going to keep on hand, just in case you know.

New Questions for Jenners
  •  Which is more anger-inducing: the car riding your ass or that car that keeps passing you and then slowing down?
  • What book would you like to see turned into a musical and who would you want to star in it?
  • What movie do you wish was a book?
  • If you could trade a skill or personality trait with one of your friends, what would you take and what would you give?
  • What era of your life would you re-live and why?

TAG! You're it, I'm it, We're all it...

My Channing-Tatum-obsessed friend Jenners still refuses to admit defeat, so yet another round of Tag!
  • What book featuring real people do you think could work if the characters were switched to animals? I think I would like to see Auntie Mame redone with animals. A quick description: Patrick Dennis is sent to live with his eccentric Auntie Mame at the tender and impressionable age of ten. Mame promptly enrolls him in an all-naked all-the-time coed school...and he is promptly removed by his much more conservative trustee. From there Patrick's life is turned upside down and inside out by his aunt, who is determined he not turn into some briefcase wielding stuffed shirt.

Now wouldn't that be cool is Patrick was like a tabby cat and Auntie Mame a cougar?

  • What is your favorite piece of art? I've always really liked Edward Hopper's Nighthawks:
But the Nike of Samothrace speaks to me too:

  • What book would you recommend to be placed in every prison cell (a la Bibles in hotel rooms)? Hands down, House of the Dead by Fyodor Dostoevsky. On the one hand, The House of the Dead is a semi-autobiographical accounting of Dostoevsky's time in the Siberian prison which is totally appropriate. On the other hand, it is nice and time consuming due to length and language. And on the third hand, it's freaking awesome.

  • If you had to devise your own system of torture, what would it be? Being locked in a room with [insert stupid annoying rick girl here i.e. Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Snookie or whatever her name is] on crack; (stupid annoying rich girl on crack, not the tortured on crack).

  • What would be the most awesome thing about living in the Old West? Hats. Everyone wore hats and that is awesome.

  • What is the most destructive thing you have ever done to a book? I burned my textbook for my Calculus II course. It had to die.

  • Should a calendar start on a Sunday or a Monday? Monday. Definitely Monday. I like to think of my Sundays as the relaxing end of the week rather than the slow beginning of a week.

  • What is your most idiotic fear? Bugs. I hate bugs. I am convinced the smallest and most innocent of them is out to kill me. Spiders, crickets, ants, all of them freak me out. I don't even want to get close enough to kill them.

  • Who is your most inappropriate crush? There are a few actors that I find ridunculously and age-inappropriately sexy:
Logan Lerman, for one; he's like what 20 years old?
And then I go the other way to Sean Connery, who is just dead sexy at whatever age:

  • What is the sexiest part of a man? Well, that depends on the man I guess, but overall I do get a bit gaga over the whole upper chest, shoulder to shoulder area. I want a man with the upper body strength to pick my chunky self up. :)

  • Should we reduce the amount of questions from 11 to 5 for future rounds? Yes please. Five sounds totally reasonable. :)
And FIVE questions for Jenners by Jenners
  1. If you were forced to change your name, what would you change it to?
  2. What would a haiku describing your high school experience read like? (that's right. you do the haiku thing.)
  3. If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be?
  4. What are five words that rhyme with “kumquat”?
  5. If you could live in a past era, when would you choose?

10 July 2012

Tag! Round Blahblahblah

And now, for everyone's favorite game of tag chicken...okay, so that's like arrogant or something right? Anyway, the game continues between me and Jenners:
  • What would your six-word memoir be (a la the book “Not Quite What I Was Planning”)? A Life Inside of Dreams. Much of my life is spent in stories: on paper, on the screen, in my mind, so it would be disingenuous to focus on anything other than that. But wouldn't it be cool if my six-word memoir was more like Living Fast and Hard on Heels or Blowing Kisses at Voraciously Hungry Crocodiles or My Life as a Weapons Expert?
  • What politician do you have a secret crush on? Ooohhh, we are talking PILFs!!! Well, bring on Aaron Schock, an Illinois Representative. And that's all I know about him, but look at those abs....

  • Which “reality show” would you like to be a part of and how long would you last? I don't actually watch reality tv, and honestly I don't think I would want to be a part of any of them; however, I do think it would be funny to put me on like Jersey Shore or some similar young 20s slutty show. I mean who doesn't want a 32 year old married mother who works as a college professor walking around reminding them they are all skanky idiots?
  • In your next life, what kind of bird would you want to come back as (and why)? An owl - they are solitary, nocturnal, symbolic of wisdom, and people are like awed when they finally see one in the wild. And people should be awed when they see me.
  • What would a haiku describing your high school experience read like?
A red paper cut
On the cheerleader's finger
Declares the reader

An ink-stained finger
Reveals the secret writer
Inside the party girl

The wire-rimmed glasses
Covering the lover's eyes
Show the geek within

Jenners really sucks
Cuz I hate writing haikus
That annoying minx
  • If you could be any queen from history, who would it be? I think I would run with "Queen" aka Pharaoh Hatsheput. Even her name is awesome, meaning Foremost of Noble Ladies. She reigned in Egypt for 22 years and in that time she built a crapton of buildings which I just think is awesome for some reason. Of all the things a ruler can do, building the crap out of that desert was her choice. :) Obviously, she did a whole bunch of other things which allowed her to fund these monuments.
  • Boxers or briefs? Boxer briefs actually. I sleep in them from time to time. Cuz I'm cool like that.
  • What country music song title (made up or real) best describes your life? Yeah....I don't listen to country music....like at all. But how about Much Too Young to Feel This Damn Old by Garth Brooks. I don't really know the lyrics, but the title certainly works.
  • What has been your most embarrassing moment as an adult? That's a tough one. I try to block out embarrassing memories, completely delete them from my mind, and I am oddly successful on that front. But I think I'm going to go with labor and delivery. Having a bunch of people staring at my junk with my husband, my mother, and my grandmother there as well was quite embarrassing. And of course there's the enema, the consistent and disgusting leakage, the red face, the sweat, the grunting, and did I mention people staring at my femaleness?
  • What was your very first favorite book? Ping. Definitely Ping. I have the entire story here on the blog!
  • Would you rather travel to the bottom of the ocean or to the moon? Ocean, most definitely. There's some crazy shit down there (and if there's crazy shit out in space, I'm not sure I want to know):

And have you seen SeaQuest DSV (a favorite of mine when I was a young nerd)? My ten-year-old self found Lucas Wolenczak very very sexy:

And now, 11 more questions for Jenners:
  1. What is the appropriate way to determine who gets the arm rest at a movie theatre?
  2. What extreme sport would you like to try if you were totally unafraid? Can you ever see yourself doing it?
  3. What one thing would you change about yourself (other than the typical female answer of looks, weight, etc.)?
  4. Would you rather have a butler, cook, maid, or nanny?
  5. Are vacations a time to experience new things or relax?
  6. Cougars. Awesome or disgusting?
  7. Would you rather your husband learned how to ballroom dance or dirty dance?
  8. What tv family is most like your own?
  9. What weapon would you learn how to use if all were open to you?
  10. What useless facts do you carry around in your head?
  11. Is it appropriate for us to start using questions the other has asked due to imagination fail?

The Neverending Tag...

More Tag with Jenners!

Did you ever play Dungeons and Dragons? If so, defend this decision. No, but I really really wish I had. The only reason I never got into it is because none of my friends are geeks like me. I read books, played World of Warcraft, and spent inordinate amounts of time watching scifi on tv, but I also was a cheerleader, a night owl, and rather fun. My friends were primarily of the latter variety....

What magazines do you read? Bitch, Rolling Stone, and mental floss. Well, I subscribe to them anyway....

Have you ever lied about your age? Not really. I do, however, get my age wrong often, sometimes making myself younger and sometimes older.

Do you floss as often as you should? (Your dentist called and asked me to put this on the list.) I never floss. I am anti-flossing. It is clearly a devious ploy by sticky strings to take over the world through tedious time-consuming mind-numbing blah.

What were some of your favorite childhood toys? Books. No, seriously, I read a lot even back then. I do remember a particular fondness for this trunk full of old clothes. My best friend Kelly and I used to dress up and play "Orphan". Who the freak plays orphan?

If you could live in a past era, what would you choose? All of them. The whole "living in the past" idea is like my go-to fantasy. Some dream about the future, some alternate versions of the present, I am stuck in the completely and totally romanticized past. I do have a particular fondness for Victorian London and for the whole frontier Old West America setting. (I know, I know, both are like super typical)

If you could live in a movie, what would you choose? I can't say for sure yet, but I'm thinking living in Magic Mike might be a-okay.

Parlez vous Francais? Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir? Actually that's all I know really....

What is the last book that made you cry? (Did I ask this already? I kind of think I might have.) A Monster Calls. Drippy sappy nasty tears right in the Barnes and Noble cafe.

Did you ever fantasize about having a different name when you were a kid and, if so, what was it? Always!!! Cassandra Elliot was quite popular, but I also had a soft spot for Victoria Donovan. Is it just me or do those names sound like they came directly out of some cheesy romance novel?

What is the last song that you couldn’t get out of your head? Now that I have a nutter, I can't stop singing You are My Sunshine (the O Brother Where Art Thou, cheating wife version). Although Inspector Gadget has been running rampant in my head for the past few days.

And now for your new questions my worthy opponent:
  1. If you could adjust the world so that the typical 8 hours of sleepy time was any 8 hour period, when would that be?
  2. What ethnicity has the best last names?
  3. Which is worse: a headache or a stomachache?
  4. Microwaving bacon. Thoughts?
  5. Are you a planner when it comes to meals, preparing in advance, or a last-minute cooker with no defrosted meat?
  6. When you hang pictures on walls, do you eyeball it or bust out a level and tape measure?
  7. Who wears the pants in your family?
  8. Is it more likely that the devil is a man or a woman? Why?
  9. Glee: makes you want to sing and dance or makes you want to slit your throat and die?
  10. What literary character would you most like to bitch slap?
  11. If you could make two people, real or imaginary, fall in love, who would it be?

Round 5 of Tag with Jenners

Welcome to Round 5 of TAG! Jenners and I have been going at this for three months now with no signs of stopping. We are kicking this game's ass ladies and gentlemen. Without further ado, here are my answers to Jenners questions:

Who is your celebrity crush? That's a tough one. I really don't have a specific person I am in infatuation with. I do have a soft spot for these hotties though:

  • Who is your literary crush (author or character)? I have the same problem here as the first question. I'm a moody person when it comes to crushes, my desires shifting with the wind and the such not...but here are a few I wouldn't mind being locked in a dark room with (with which I wouldn't mind being locked in a dark room...):

Eric from Sookie Stackhouse series
yes, even in the book; although Mr. Hotness here from the tv series
makes my blood get all hot and my skin all itchy

I won't lie...I wouldn't mind being in a room with Neil Gaiman and his wife Amanda Palmer...
Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer

  • What was the last song that you couldn’t get out of your head? (And I curse you in advance for putting it in mine.) "The hills are alive with the sound of music." But that's the only line I know, so it's pretty annoying. I just sing that one line over and over and over again.
  • What percentage of your wardrobe is composed of novelty t-shirts? 0% I know, right? I wish I had more t-shirts, but the only t-shirts I own, I wear to sleep, and they are primarily cast-offs from my husband.
  • Which came first — the chicken or the egg? (You knew this was coming. I just got to it first.) The egg. It's round and shiny and the all mighty creator (aka The Flying Spaghetti Monster) would have started with that instead of the fuzzy ugly chicken.
  • Would your rather have a job you love that only pays minimum wage or a job you hate that pays millions of dollars a year? I'm already a teacher so I clearly chose the minimum wage job. And I totally could have landed a million dollar a year job. I'm that awesome. For sure. Yeah.
  • Do you suspect, as I do, that Ryan Seacrest is planning to take over the world? Absolutely. But I don't think we have to worry until the rottenness of Seacrest, Snookie, and some random Kardashian converge. The monster that meshing will create is a force which cannot be reckoned with.
  • What are five words that rhyme with “kumquat”? magic, apple, brown cow, lilliputian, and booger.
  • What is the first full sentence on p. 16 of the book you are currently reading? I'm actually reading The Day the World Ends by Ethan Coen which is a collection of poems, and the one on page 16 is a bit racy to print here. :)
  • If a train leaves Pittsburgh traveling 45 mph at 10:00 am on May 14th and another train leaves Cleveland traveling 35 mph at 9:52 am on May 13th, what size coffee did the conductor order at Starbucks on his way to work on May 11th? A trenta sugar-free non-fat vanilla soy double shot extra pump no foam White Chocolate Mocha with light whip. And biscotti.
  • What are the titles of any books on your shelves that you skip over every single time you go to choose your next read? Every single one over 500 pages long. So sad.
And now, Jenners' new questions:
  1. Who is your most inappropriate crush?
  2. Is it more awesome to be good at Trivial Pursuit or Chess?
  3. Being attracted to anime characters: amusing or creepy?
  4. What game do kids or teens play that you think adults should play as well?
  5. Sexual bribery between spouses: a good way to get out of a chore or an immoral act of the lazy?
  6. What is your favorite part of the body?
  7. If you could learn how to do anything, what would you learn to do?
  8. Which is more disgusting: smelly poopy diapers or massive baby puke?
  9. If you could inhabit a celebrity's body for the day, who would you choose?
  10. What book do you wish would just magically enter your mind so you didn't have to put forth the effort to read it?
  11. Where is Waldo?

And So It Goes....TAG!

Game of Tag Chicken Continues.....

The most amazing Jenners and I are engaged in what is clearly becoming a never-ending game of Tag Chicken. A game initially begun from a simple meme which has now evolved into well...this. So without further ado, her questions for me:

How do you know my uncle and why are you crying out his name? We met at a Jenners Adoration Seminar. He's my sponsor.
Would you rather have chocolate fingernails or the ability to achieve orgasm whenever you sneeze? Sneezing orgasms as long as I don't have to orgasm upon every sneeze. That could be uncomfortable in certain situations such as holiday dinners with the family and like teaching and stuff.
Would you rather have the flexibility of a gymnast or the stamina of a marathoner? Pffftt.. I already have both baby. Okay, seriously, I think I'll go with the stamina because the flexibility is easier to achieve.
Would you rather attempt to swim in lime Jello or liquid cheese? I think I just threw up a little in my mouth over the idea of swimming in liquid cheese.
If you won a 5-minute buying spree at a bookstore, what section would you head to first? Art. That way I could buy a crapton of really expensive books and return them for a an even larger crapton of novels.
Don’t you think the Oscars should go back to only have 5 best picture nominees? Yes. Yes I do. I am personally offended by the change.
Can you distinguish between your baby’s different cries or is that just a myth of motherhood like I think it is? I can totally tell the difference - she has three types of cries: the one I think is kind of cute, the one I find annoying, and the one that makes me not like her.
For what music group/artist would you be willing to camp out all night to get tickets for their concert? (That was a difficult sentence to write using correct grammar and I think I failed.) The Beatles, you know, if it was like 45 years ago..But since that's like a totally cliched answer, I'll also say that I would camp out all night to see Lady Gaga as well.
Do you think it is unfair that Angelina Jolie gets her ENTIRE name in “Brangelina”? No because her hotness factor is off the charts and she deserves the honor.
If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be? Holy Fantabulous Batman! Or maybe... Life in the Dreaming
Are you really OK with devoting 1/10th of your blog posts to this game of tag chicken? Absolutely. :)

11 New Questions for Jenners
  1. Should a calendar start on a Sunday or a Monday?
  2. Which is the more likely new wave in cosmetic surgery: the application of freckles or the removal and replacement of perfectly healthy teeth?
  3. What is your most idiotic fear?
  4. What is the worst show on television today?
  5. Sweater vests on women: dork, chic, sexy androgyny, or what?
  6. Would you rather: Eat all the chocolate you wanted without taking in any calories or Run as far as you wanted without getting winded?
  7. Graffiti: Art or Vandalism?
  8. If you absolutely had to choose one, is it more crucial for YAL to have more positive portrayals of : gay characters, female characters, or characters of color?
  9. What is the sexiest part of a man?
  10. What is the worst thing you can call a person?
  11. Is our obsession with this little game of tag indicative of deep-seated emotional problems?

Tag! Jenners Shall Not Win!

Yet again, I've been tagged by Jenners. Let the games begin...er...continue. I Shall Prevail!
  • Have you ever thought of giving up blogging? Just this past month I thought about it. With the Nutter taking up so much of my time, I considered deleting the blog since I wouldn't be able to put so much time into it. Then I figured..what's the big deal if there's only a post or two a week?
  • Would you rather cough butterflies or sneeze rainbows? (I heard this on my son’s radio show so don’t blame me.) Are you kidding? Sneeze rainbows for sure.
  • What book/s being released this year are you most looking forward to reading? There are books being released this year? :) I'm terrible about keeping up on new releases, but off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure a new Alexia Tarrabotti novel is coming out. Gotta love that Parasol Protectorate.
  • What surprised you most about becoming a mother? Even though you know on some level that babies are a lot of work, it's still quite surprising how very very much work they are. She's just so freaking needy...
  • Which do you prefer: dogs or cats? Snakes.
  • What is the last movie that made you cry? Considering I've been rather hormonal for months now, I cry at commercials. For real cry though would be Schindler's List.
  • What is the last book that made you laugh? Ready Player One by Ernest Cline!
  • Would you rather spend a week in New York City or a week in the mountains in Colorado? Definitely the mountains. I'm a big fan of hiking and climbing and in general playing outside in woodsy mountainy areas. And since I live in the middle of farm-centered flatlands, I rarely get to do it.
  • Can you quit a book you’re not enjoying? If so, what is your secret? I never could until a few years ago. Once I started blogging, it really hit me how many books there are out there to read. Why waste time?
  • How are you liking 11/22/63 by Stephen King? (I see you are reading it now or soon will be.) Good stuff baby. Time travel, conspiracy theories, mixing fact and fiction: these are all things I like.
  • Do you think you will stop and not answer these questions so I can be the winner of our little game of tag chicken? Never. This game shall go on until you cry uncle. Now cry uncle.

The 11 Questions that Will Make Jenners Cry Uncle

Tag! I'm It! Again!

I was tagged once before, so be sure to check out my answers to those questions too! But here we go on the questions Jenners laid down. She freely admits to tagging me so I am stuck in an endless loop of tagging.

Rules
1 You must post the rules.
2 Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then create eleven new questions to ask the  people you’ve tagged.
3 Tag eleven people and link to them on your post.
4 Let them know you’ve tagged them!
  1. What’s the most played song on your iPod? (or CD collection if you’re old school) :: Okay, this is a bit embarrassing, but the most played song on my iPod currently is Enrique Iglesias's "I Like It". Yeah, I get crunk up in the club.
  2. What do you miss most about your childhood? :: The lack of responsibility. Absolutely.
  3. What is your favorite poem?  Can I say The Odyssey? Does that count? :)
  4. Without thinking too much, what are 5 of your favorite books of all time? (Just list them as they come to you … don’t think!!!!!) :: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Good Omens, Rebecca, The Monk, Inferno,
  5. What was the last book you read? Tell me about it in 5 words or less. Room and Boredom. Dark, mystery, blood, bar, dreaming,
  6. Can you define irony and give an example? (This is self-serving as I’m struggling to do this with my son. I will so steal your answers if appropriate.) :: Instead of giving my own, I thought I would provide a link: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/irony
  7. If you were forced to change your name, what would you change it to? :: My Lady High Mistress
  8. What author/TV show/movie/book/celebrity, do you have absolutely despise and avoid at all costs? Jersey Shore and anything like it. Sweet god that's just devastating.
  9. What movie was actually better than the book is was based on? :: I know they exist, and I know I've read/seen some, but damn they're eluding me right now. I bet The Notebook was though. I mean watching two hours had to be better than reading it. Right? And True Blood may be better than the Sookie books...Eric, oh my Eric.
  10. Beatles or the Stones? :: Beatles
  11. What is your favorite quote? Ralph Waldo Emerson's "The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common".

My Questions
  1. What is the proper ratio of donuts to milk?
  2. What is the proper book to read while waiting at the DMV which will fully express your disgust with the whole situation?
  3. If you absolutely had to give one or the other up for life, would you choose to give up books or your car?
  4. Does an author's personality have any affect on whether or not you read his/her book?
  5. Eric, Lestat, Edward, or Count Dracula?
  6. Would you rather have a mansion or a private jet?
  7. What book would you recommend to be placed in every prison cell (a la Bibles in hotel rooms)?
  8. Twins by yourself or quadruplets with a nanny?
  9. Austen or Bronte?
  10. Which finger is most important and why?
  11. TV or movies?

Tag! I'm It!

I've been tagged by Jenny at Alternate Reality which is awesome as I've never been tagged before. And honestly it's nice to have an easy way to post since I'm so absent minded right now (due to lack of sleep).

Rules
1 You must post the rules.
2 Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then create eleven new questions to ask the  people you’ve tagged.
3 Tag eleven people and link to them on your post.
4 Let them know you’ve tagged them!

Questions from Jenny and my answers
1 What is something you dread? Okay, this is super serious so I apologize, but the thing I truly dread is the death of friends and family.
2 What is your favorite food? Pizza. Hands down.
3 What kind of car was your first car? A bright green Hyundai Excel. It was seriously...obvious.
4 Picture taker or camera hog? I'm always the one taking the pictures. I run from cameras.
5 Do you have any pets? Nope. I've never had a pet, and honestly I've never really wanted one.
6 What would you do if you got to meet your movie star crush? Throw myself at him in complete and utter abandon. What?!? Anyone who says different is a liar. :)
7 What would you do if you met your literary crush? Again, throw myself at him in complete and utter abandon. I'm just as attracted to brains as I am to looks. :)
8 Socks on or off when you sleep? Off. I want them off even when I'm awake!
9 What book(s) have you been mad enough to throw across the room? I didn't think about throwing it across the room, but I did consider burning Ulysses. And I actually did burn my Differential Equations textbook in college.
10 What book(s) have you hugged to your chest in love? So many it would be impossible to list them all.
11 What was the name of a childhood stuffed animal? I had a doll named Stephie for a long time, and I distinctly remember another doll I loved dramatically but I can't remember her name....
