- Does an author’s personality have any affect on whether or not you read his/her book? Unfortunately, no. And I feel bad about this. I really do. Orson Scott Card is a total asshat, but Ender's Game is still one of the best books ever. Most of the time I don't know anything about the author, and that is fine by me. I'm not interested in their exigence, intention, or lifestyle. I just want their work.
- Why do fools fall in love? Because spaghetti tastes better.
- What kind of an old lady do you think you will be? I would love to say a kickass one; one of those old ladies who's still styling and active and living it up. I'm pretty sure though that I will be a total hermit, spending inordinate amounts of time holed up in some dark room, reading and watching tv. It's what I would prefer to be doing now, so I'm pretty sure it's what I will be doing when I have the option....

∫π/20dx1+(tan(x))2√ - Did you do a little victory dance when I let months go by without doing a Tag Chicken post—foolishing thinking that perhaps you had won this game? Yes. Yes, I did. I actually had a victory post drafted - which I'm going to keep on hand, just in case you know.
New Questions for Jenners
- Which is more anger-inducing: the car riding your ass or that car that keeps passing you and then slowing down?
- What book would you like to see turned into a musical and who would you want to star in it?
- What movie do you wish was a book?
- If you could trade a skill or personality trait with one of your friends, what would you take and what would you give?
- What era of your life would you re-live and why?
Well played, Jenners! Well played. :-) I really need to read Ender's Game and find out what all the fuss is about.
ReplyDelete"Orson Scott Card is a total asshat, but Ender's Game is still one of the best books ever." Exactly! I can't imagine missing out on such an incredible book just because I don't like the author. The same is true for a ton of classic authors too. Think of what a jerk Hemingway was! But I still love A Moveable Feast.
ReplyDeleteI was TOTALLY just saying almost the EXACT SAME WORDS about Card and Ender's Game just this weekend! (except the "asshat" part which I don't say because I don't actually know what that is so I use the Even Worse Sounding extension to "ass.")
ReplyDeleteYou know, I would love to say that the personality of an author doesn't make me hesitant to read their books, but I've had some pretty nasty run-ins with some authors, who I will avoid like the plague in the future. I just don't get it when authors are mean and slimy. It makes zero sense to me. Also, I am so glad that tag chicken is not dead! So, so glad!
ReplyDelete"Sucked back in the quits". Dude, that's disgusting! Well played from both participants, as always... ;)
ReplyDeleteIt would be a huge loss for all of us if Jenners had thrown in the towel. So please girls, you need to stick this out. And I have to say that it might just matter if the author is an asshat. But I can't just be told he/she is an asshat, I have to see it for myself. For example, I've done enough research on Jonathan Franzen that I shall never read another of his books again, I don't care if the President reads it.
ReplyDeleteLoved your answer to "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" Of course, that is the correct answer!
ReplyDeleteBret Easton Ellis. He might just be the guy to change your mind about an author's personality. But you'd have to read the book first.
ReplyDeleteOh, too bad you didn't win. But I enjoy these posts so much I'm not complaining!
ReplyDeleteI KNEW you thought you had won!!! Hope you enjoyed sucking in the quits! Great answers (loving the equation … can't even imagine how you formatted that on a blogging platform) and I am loving your questions this time. Will require some thought from me … not a good thing always. I'll have to work on these on the weekend!
