Me Right Now

Time and Place // 7:49pm chilling on my couch with Miss Madison sitting next to me watching YouTube videos on my phone

Eating and Drinking // Just indulged with a quesadilla dinner at Brickstone and some Oberweis ice cream for dessert. Madison had her first experience with brain freeze; she looked at me, said "so cold", and then her little face scrunched up and she cried for like 15 seconds. Not going to lie, I thought it was hilarious.

Reading // I'm in the middle of the second book in Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Cycle series. Wonderfully mystical, artfully written, and full of unique character, this series is rocking my world. If you have not started this series, you definitely should.

Listening // Timber by Pitbull, featuring Kesha. This is Madison's favorite song right now. I am a wee bit horrified. Then again, it's got a good beat and you can dance to it. Just praying she never learns the lyrics. #badmommoment

Blogging // I had to take a temporary hiatus recently as my blog homepage disappeared for a few days, and for the life of me, I could not figure out what had happened. I played around with the template and the layout thinking that would fix the problem. It didn't. Then BA-BAM, suddenly it was back. Who knows...

Hating // The Whine. Madison has developed an absolutely horrid whine which she is using all too often and for very little reason. I swear she whines just because she can.

Wanting // An end to the shopping list. It's like I have never bought everything I need at any one point in time. Insane.

Anticipating // My birthday! A little over one week away!

Contemplating // My age. Did I mention my birthday is coming up?

So what is everyone else up to?

  1. Isn't The Raven Cycle awesome?! I just finished listening to book two on audio - and it's driving me crazy that I can't find anywhere online that tells me when book three is coming out!

Ah, the whine. I remember those days. I pretty much refused to answer my kids whenever they whined. I'd say, "I can't talk to you when you're using your crying voice. Talk normally, and I'll answer you." They eventually quit - but it can drive you crazy in the meantime! Hang in there. :)

    1. I keep telling Madison I don't speak whine. :)

I don't know for sure but I have it in my head that book 3 comes out in October, waaaayyyy too far from now.

    2. I loved them on audio so much that I'm going to gift them from Audible to my dad for Father's Day. I know he'll enjoy them as much as I did - Will Patton is an awesome narrator.

  2. LOVE The Raven boy series. The characters have such a great vibe, the story so epic and mystical, and Carrie is right, the audios are amazing. I can't wait for the next one. And something weird has been going on with my blog too. For some reason, it is picking up my daughter's Google user name instead of mine (even though I keep logging her out) and I don't get e-mails when I get comments. Argh! Good luck with the whine. You combat the whine with wine.

    1. Haha! I will have to remember that. I just got a case of wine (from Florida oddly enough).

  3. Happy Soon Birthday! I hope you get a slice (or the whole thing) of your favorite pie.
and yea, that song is catchy - can't say I've really listened to the lyrics beyond the refrain. I have been listening to 70s on 7 on Sirius radio and they had some serious cringe-worthy lyrics to some songs. But the worst, the other day, I got in my husband's car and he had it set to Raw Dog (ahem) and a song was playing that was seriously WRONG. I won't even repeat it.

    1. I feel so guilty sometimes liking these songs which are so horribly misogynistic. But damned if they aren't catchy.

  4. Ha! I laughed aloud when I read about the brain freeze. Poor baby! Brain freeze is the worst -- best she learns about it young so she can be prepared.

    1. She just looked so shocked! Got right back on the horse though. Not even brain freeze will turn her off from a vanilla malt.

  5. Brain freeze trick - next time tell her (and you can do this too when you get it) to put her tongue on the roof of her mouth. Apparently, that's the part that's telling your brain it should start hurting, so when you warm it up with your tongue, it stops more quickly.

  6. Hey stranger! I'd forgotten that we're birthday neighbors. Except I'm older. Boo. I just sent my cousin an awesome card that went something like "It's your birthday. La de f'n da." Which is totally how I feel about mine this year.
I came this close to jumping into this series the other day. Looks like I need to rethink my decision to pass on this and download Vampire Academy (I know, I know...but it's a great audio choice for running because they say the stupidest things that make me laugh, and that's not something I normally do while exercising).
