A Rondeau

A rondeau is a poetic form with a quite particular structure. 14 lines long with the following rhyme scheme: aabba aabR aabbR, where the R is a repeated portion of the first line of the poem. I have no idea why, but I find the form fascinating, even if a bit difficult for one such as myself (read a non-poetic person who likes attempting poetry). Here's my first shot at it. You may notice that it is actually partially plagiarized from a poem I wrote a while ago called the traveler.

Blades of grass insistent against my skin,
Branches of forest trees beckon me in.
The adrenaline inside is singing,
With the scent of the wild lingering,
And I can’t wait until life begins.

I am leaving it, the ear splitting din,
For beauty and the original sin,
For sultry wet drops from heaven clinging,
Insistent against my skin.

Only the impatient traveler within
Knows the passion in places never been.
And the barebones path slowly wringing
The unexplored pleasure it’s bringing
Insistent against my skin.
