Clearly, I'm never going to get through 20 books in 24 hours unless the good lord grants me two mini-mes to help out. But it is a nice pile to draw from with an odd mix of short/long, easy/difficult, YAL/SciFi/Lit. Here's the list bottom to top: bold=freebie from one of you, italics=recommended by one of you,

Don't Panic by Neil Gaiman

My big question: which book should I start with and why?
Excellent books! I have 15 in my list and there's no way I'll get through them all, but at least I have options!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I don't know how you'll ever get through all of them! I would start with the short ones, to give you a boost of confidence!
ReplyDeletegood luck getting all those books read in 24 hours...it amazes me that people can read that many
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I don't know enough of them to tell you which to start with, but I've started Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (and it's going on my read-a-thon list too) and it makes me laugh out loud... so it might be good for a later book :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!

I have 30 in my list, and while I have no hope of actually getting them all read, I'd like to get at least 5 off of my pile. (And Les Miz is certainly not one of them.) It seems like a lot of people are including graphic novels in their list, and I don't know any titles I should check out. I haven't really read them much before, aside from one volume of The Sandman. Any recs you throw my way are much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, and I'll see you around next weekend!
Amanda - That's how I feel. I have a nice mix to choose from. Options are good.
ReplyDeleteRhapsody and Serena - Oh, there's no way I'll get through them. I read fast, but not that fast.
Tara SG - I think that's going to be one of my early reads. It seems like it will be an easy-ish one.
Laura - I would recommend Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, Alan Moore's Watchmen, and Neil Gaiman's Sandman series (which it seems you've started). I've heard good things about Understanding Comics and britten and brulightly. and
Lots of great books! You'll have a lot of wonderful options.
ReplyDeleteGood list! I think The Knife of Letting Go is going to be on a lot of people's read-a-thon lists.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list of books, you sure look like you're going to have a fun readathon!
ReplyDeleteI'd start with The Knife of Never Letting Go, but then I'm biased, because it's one of my favourite books I've read this year!
1.I haven't read any of those but I really want 20 Boy Summer.
ReplyDelete2. I am uber excited too! Yay for the read-a-thon!
3. You know you got that song stuck in my head right.
Lola - I just can't wait!
ReplyDeleteCarrie K. - We should have a mass readathon readalong of the book.
Bart - I think I'm going to take your advice.
Katrina - That song was stuck in my head for quite some time too. Better than the Barney song...crap now that's stuck in my head.
My stack is smaller than usual with 11 books, but I hope to get to 4 of them for sure. I have Knife of Never in my stack but I fear it's too long?
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for hysterical giggling. I'm SO excited!!! Eeeeeee! :)
Trish - I think I stole your "readathon readathon readathon" chant on a vlog I did, but haven't put up yet. And from what I hear, KoNLG is long but quick, so I'm thinking I might start with it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read it, but a lot of people say The Knife of Never Letting Go is very compelling, so that might make for a good start.
ReplyDeleteYay Vlog! Can't wait. :) I've got the chant stuck in my head--starting to lose sleep I'm so excited. :P
ReplyDeletesoftdrink - I think that's the one I'm going with. Soooo many people have recommended it.
ReplyDeleteTrish - The vlog is for my mini-challenge. Eh to me on screen, but hey why not right?
I need to get my read-a-thon post up. Maybe Cat's Cradle, cause it's short? I have that one on my shelves, but haven't added it to me pile yet. Maybe I should!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice pile. I've got Fragile Things on mine, too! =)
ReplyDeleteStacy - Cat's Cradle is definitely up there on my to read list. I think it works for three separate challenges which is just awesome!
ReplyDeleteMegan - I have been meaning to read Fragile Things for soo long. I plan on interspersing short stories between book and as breaks.
great stack of books! I hope you enjoy your day. I'm looking foward to reading.
ReplyDeleteYou've got quite the stack! I'm planning on starting with a short book (likely A House on Mango Street) since it gives quick results.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a mini-me to help get through my TBR tower!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! My daughter, a friend, and I are participating. Last year, I read 1 book, but we did more talking and going online than reading. I'll be posting my book list later today, hopefully.

Dana - I'm so excited I can barely wait.
ReplyDeleteRonnica - I started with that in mind as well. Now I can't decide between fast read and highly recommended read.
Anna - Wouldn't a mini-me be useful in so many situations?
