How many books would a book girl buy if a book girl could buy books?
Apparently, an obscene quantity. In the past three weeks, I have bought the following:

To add to the madness, I've also received the following books through BookMooch in the past three weeks...

And the fun doesn't stop there folks! You wonderful people have also provided me with books to read..

In my defense of the "bought books": I received a $100 gift card recently. But yeah...I still had to dole out some cash. Now, let's bring on the readathon so I can start trimming my TBR pile!
What books have you bought or received lately?
I loved The Handmaids Tale when I read it earlier this year. Great choice!!
ReplyDeleteI've got Cranford sitting in my shopping basket at bookdepository waiting for my next grant check (Friday thank heavens)and I really like the look of hush hush, the chosen one and Twenty Boy Summer so I am a jealous of you.
I've only bought The Kite Runner from Audible this week. Waiting for next week to buy a bunch.
Enjoy your reading
Madness is relative, and as you state, the readathon is right around the corner. Your were not actually over-buying, you were prepping for this blogger event. :) You have some great books there too. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteFun fun fun! I love buying books. I'm not allowed to right now and it's killing me! So it's fun to relive others' shopping trips! :D
ReplyDeleteOh! You have some GREAT books waiting for you. I just finished The Knife of Never Letting Go and loved it.
ReplyDeleteI read the Oscar Wao-book earlier this year and it was simply fabulous, one of my fave reads.
And that Uglies-book...I am looking forward to hear what you think about it. I have been looking at the series, its a quartet I think, and every body seems to be talking about it these days. I will just have to get them, I think :-)
I recently wrote up about the books I bought/borrowed/received in the mail this past week... I have 10 books from the library right now! I feel like such a book hog, but I wanted to get all of a series and a nice variety for the read-a-thon :)

Zee - I seem to go through binge buying episodes. Nothing bought for like a month and then bam! 150 bucks worth.
ReplyDeleteFrances - I like the way you think.
Amanda - Yeah I think I need a book buying ban; I'm going to try to not buy a book until the new year. But I reserve the right to BookMooch and ask for books as presents.
Louise - I picked up Uglies after reading sooooo much about it; I figured I had to see what all the fuss was about.
Tara SG - I agree about variety. I know I'm not a planned reader, so I needed a large stack of choices. And you never know, I might end up grabbing a book off the shelves; I have a ridiculous quantity of unread books right now.
I've been really good at not buying books lately. I picked up 16 books from the library for the read-a-thon and found a great used copy of The Savage Detectives at a local bookstore. I do have a gazillion books on my wish list at amazon:)
ReplyDeleteYay for Uglies and The Knife of Never Letting Go! The Alex Rider books are a lot of fun as well.
ReplyDeleteI see nothing obscene about the quantity of books acquired at all! ;)
Holy Caloley! I'd die with happiness if I had a $100 gift card. Oh the damage I could do!
ReplyDeleteMy most recently purchse was The Knife of Never Letting Go. The Lace Reader is fantastic--hope you enjoy.
Gavin - I wish I was a library girl, but I'm just not. And ditto on the wishlist - I think mine is getting a bit out of control at the moment.
ReplyDeleteBart - I absolutely love the validation I get from other book bloggers on this subject. Family and friends think I'm nuts.
Trish - I bought the Lace Reader on your recommendation....oooh the pressure for me to like it. :) And I about did die from happiness when I got the gift card. Now if only I could get my hands on another one...
Holy Cow! Wow! Wonderful list of books. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteOh no, that is a lot of pressure!! Eeeep--going into hiding now. :)
ReplyDeleteSerena - Thanks! There is just not enough time in the day is there?
ReplyDeleteTrish - Ha! I meant the pressure is on me. What if I don't like it? I would never live it down; I would know something is wrong with me. :)
Yeay for buying books!!!! I would love a $100 gift card!
