Non-Fiction Five

1. Read 5 non-fiction books during the months of May - September, 2010 (please link your reviews on Mister Linky each month; Mister Linky can be found at the beginning of each month on this blog)

2. Read at least one non-fiction book that is different from your other choices (i.e.: 4 memoirs and 1 self-help)

Head on over to Trish's Reading Nook and sign-up now!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, yet another challenge.  The big question is how will I be able to wait for May?  Some possibilities:
  1. Forbidden Fruit: Love Stories from the Underground Railroad by Betty DeRamus
  2. Forbidden Knowledge: From Prometheus to Pornography by Roger Shattuck
  3. When They Severed Earth from Sky by the Barbers
  4. The Bible Unearthed by Israel Finkelstein

and really this list could go on and on and on.  I have so many unread non-fiction books on my TBR shelves that it's a bit sad.

What I Read:
  1. 101 Things I Learned in Film School by Neil Landau and Matthew Frederic
  2. Badass by Ben Thompson
  3. Trickster by Matt Dembicki
  4. Film Club by David Gilmour
  5. Denial: A Memoir of Terror by Jessica Stern
  6. Fun Home by Alison Bechdel
  7. Manhood for Amateurs by Michael Chabon
  8. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba
  9. Thumbing Through Thoreau by Kenny Luck
  10. Packing for Mars by Mary Roach
  11. The Wave by Susan Casey
  12. Why Our Decisions Don't Matter by Simon Van Booy

  2. Cool challenge ! Might have to do the same ! By the way, Shattuck's book was great, although it could use an updating. Finkeltein's was terrific as well !!!

  3. Amanda - I think it should be more like the non-fiction 50. :)

Stephanie - I tried to pick the ones that most interested me, but we'll see if they are the same ones that jump out during the contest!

maphead - It's great to hear you say that. It's not often I run across people who have read books like Shattuck's and Finkelstein's!
