Sunday Salon HodgePodge

I have been rather absent around the blogosphere for the past two and a half weeks, and for that, I apologize.  First, I was sick.  Then, it was finals week.  Now, I'm sick again.  No crapola.  My throat is killing me, specifically the left side, and it seems to have migrated up to my left ear as well.  First thing Monday morning, I'm calling the doctor.  This nastiness has to go away before BEA/BloggerCon week.

With all of the sickness, paper grading, and suddenly-interested-in-their-grade students, I've gotten very little reading done.  I finally got to read Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpreter of Maladies, making me the last person in the book blogging world to read it.  I also read 101 Things I Learned in Film School which I highly recommend for anyone interested in movies, books, or writing (which, come on, that has to be everyone, right?).  I'm giving away five copies of it, so be sure to sign up!

Even though I wasn't able to do much reading, I still managed to make some posts, one of which was a weekly geek asking if I can read books by author's I clash with ideologically.  Tough question.  And of course, for last week's Sunday Salon, I shared some of the blog posts that I found thought-provoking.

Really though, the last two and a half weeks have been ridiculously dedicated to television watching.  Whenever I wasn't grading papers, my brain was so tired - and slightly feverish - that I tuned out to the tv.  I watched four seasons of Supernatural and two seasons of Entourage.  I know, it's a sickness this ability to watch so much television.  In my defense, again, sick.  I wasn't getting much sleeping done because of the fever and sore throat.  Okay, enough excuses.

I loved them both and now am determined to find a way to own all the seasons of both shows, but cheaply.  I really want the third season of Entourage, but so far no luck with SwapTree.  I'm offering to trade various seasons of The Dead Zone, Millenium, Heroes, The Simpsons, and The 4400 as well as various movies.  If you by chance have Supernatural or Entourage and are willing to trade, let me know.  You can check out what I have by going to SwapTree.

Finally, I wanted to let everyone know, once again, how excited I am about going to the BEA and Blogger Con.  I was so excited to receive emails from some of you, and I can't wait to meet you guys!

  1. Ugh, I hope you feel better before NYC! My son just got sick this weekend and my husband seems to be coming down with it too, so I'm a little worried I might end up with it before i go! Must eat very healthy and exercise a lot this week!!!

    PS - I haven't read Interpreter of Maladies. :)

  4. Being sick, especially when things are so busy, is a real drag. Go get some strong drugs and knock that thing out of the park! I'm not a huge TV person, but do watch a few shows, and by the end of the season, I'm actually glad when it is over. I hate the feeling of HAVING to watch something! I'd rather watch a movie!

  5. I hope you kick this cold soon. I swear this year the colds that have been going around are really tough to kick!

I just recently said I wanted to watch Supernatural myself. My girlfriend couldn't believe I never saw it, considering my love of sci-fi/fantasy. I also may check out Vampire Diaries. I've been told it's a great guilty pleasure.

Good luck finishing up grades and such and feel better soon. See you when I see you :)
