I'm Not Dead, Just...

Meet Baby #2

For those still around, it is obvious that my blogging has been sporadic since the arrival of my first baby, Madison, which was 2+ years ago. I was starting back up when the hubby and I decided we could handle a second. Then, BAM. Pregnant again.

This time around we are having a boy, so we end up with one of each....three years apart. Nutter the Second should arrive around January 25, 2015 - one day after Nutter the First's third birthday. Did I mention THREE YEARS APART? What are we thinking? Just when we get the one out of diapers and becoming self-sufficient we throw ourselves back into total dependency, puke and poop. Silly us.

In the meantime, I'm still here and even reading the occasional blog post. I even get to read from time to time. Currently I'm reading Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr and feeling rather meh about it. I will keep reading it, but I'm hoping it gets a bit more in-depth. Suggestions as to whether I should keep reading or put it down?

Recently I put down Halo by Alexandra Adornetto. I could not get into it. I tried and tried and tried, but I had to continuously fight the urge to yell at the main character. Liking her was not possible for me.
I did, however, enjoy Nora Roberts' The Collector, the first straight-up romance novel I've read in a long, long time; although I have to say, there is a lot more mystery to this one than I remember in her books. This is, on the one hand, a benefit to story line; on the other hand, bring on the sexy sexy.

Way back in July, I re-read the entire Harry Potter series which was an absolutely wonderful experience. I used to re-read series like Potter and Lord of the Rings and Underland Chronicles and His Dark Materials and....well, lots of them. There is something both comforting and exciting about re-visiting a world you love.

I am quite sure there have been a few other books between July and now; however baby brain has lost them. I have Of Monsters and Madness sitting next to me right now, and that is probably what I will pick up after Carnival of Souls. I have heard mixed reviews about this one, but I love the cover so much that I'm going to give it a go.

So how have you guys been? Anything new I should know about? Or you know, just say hi if you're hanging in there with me as I take a massive extended break from blogging. :)

  1. Congrats again Trisha! Now, imagine this: You're about to have your third baby, less than 3.5 years from your first. Having two three years apart? Piece of cake compared to three in 3.5 years. :D Seriously, though, I wish you all the luck and joy.

As for Carnival of Souls, that book got worse and worse all the way through. There were some things that really creeped me out (in a bad way) and I felt like the plot actually started in the last couple chapters. And since the plot basically involved two repugnant races warring against each other, I never saw the need to read any further. The whole time I was reading, I kept thinking I should quit, but never did, and wish I had... (I can tell you more, if you wish, by email - don't want to give away spoilers unless you want me to. :D )

  2. Congrats! Three years really isn't bad spacing and it's going to be fun with one of each. The birthdays right next to each other in January is crazy though. ;)

  3. Congratulations!! Three years apart isn't bad though it is around the time that you get tired of changing two bums instead of one. My kids are all exactly 22 months apart and I shake my head when it's time to celebrate birthdays. :-)

  5. Congratulations! Three years is a good gap! That's how much older I am than my little sister, and we're really close.

  6. Mine were 18 months apart, so I had two in diapers for awhile. Now, to put perspective on it, I just got one driving and the other gets his permit in a month. Yeah, teaching two kids to drive in a one year period. No wonder I'm half nuts. Congrats to you, and for having one of each!

  8. Congratulations!!!! I am so excited for you guys! Three years will be a good gap, far enough that they aren't competing all the time, but close enough they can be friends.

  9. YAY!!!!! And two is hard for the first couple of months and somehow inexplicably becomes easier. I think because they can kind of entertain each other while I'm doing other things (even grocery shopping is now easier with both of them).

And does this really mean you will have a THREE year old? How quickly time passes!!! Congratulations Trisha. :)

  10. Congratulations! My brother and I are 4 years apart and while we weren't super-close in childhood, we're very close now (also with our sister, who is the oldest). All the best :-)

  13. Awwww, congratulations! It will be a challenge, for sure, but watching those two little munchkins grow up together will be a lot of fun, too. Also - mine just turned four, and I'm JUST NOW feeling like I'm back into the blogging swing, so don't stress. We'll all be here whenever you are. =)

  14. Congratulations! The second one is so much easier. I'm sure you've heard that a lot. I really would like to reread the Harry Potter series. Man, I loved it so much but I don't want to haul the series around with me while I travel.

On a side note, is there a spot on your blog to subscribe by email and I'm missing seeing it? Getting posts via email seems to be the only way I keep up with reading posts nowadays especially since the demise of Google Reader. I can't seem to find a replacement reader that I like as much.
