The Creepier Covers of Heart of Darkness

As I stated in yesterday's post, the month of May shall be dedicated to the horrifically ambiguous, remarkably dark and depressing novella that is Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. The tale in Heart of Darkness does not lend itself to flowery, brightly lit covers full of smiles and joy; however, these are some of the creepiest covers for the book.

And the Winner Is...

I've given you my opinion on winner of Creepiest Cover; which do you think should take the trophy?

  1. Oh man what a great idea on judging the covers. H.O.D and Frankenstein have some of my favorite ranges of creepy covers over the ages. Great blog, looking forward to following!

  2. I don't know. That second one with the puppet thing is pretty creepy.

  3. Great concept. I might have to consider doing this, but wow, these ones you have here are all creepy. I'd have to say the creepiest for me is the first one. I don't know why but it just has a really eerie feel to it.

  4. Oo, I think the Oxford World Classics cover is both the best and the creepiest. Look at that scary mask!

  5. OH jeez, they're all so good! I think the 4th one is the creepiest/best in my opinion. Hidden, ambiguous depths--just like the book!
