RIP: The Perilous Challenge

From September 1 through October 31, I will once again be participating in the RIP Challenge hosted by Carl from Stainless Steel Droppings. This is probably one of my most favorite challenges ever as it gives me a reason to indulge in the types of stories I love: gothic, dark, scary stuff.  Reviews from all participants will be here.

I will be going for Peril the First which calls for participants to read four books that can be classified as scary.

Here are a few possibilities:

Jane and the Damned by Janet Mullany
What the Dead Know by Laura Lippman
Soulless and Changeless by Gail Carriger
Daughters of the Witching Hill by Mary Sharratt
Waking the Moon by Elizabeth Hand
The Virago Book of Ghost Stories
A whole slew of YA and adult paranormal books

What I Read
  1. Marked by P.C. and Kristin Cast
  2. Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur
  3. Beasts by Joyce Carol Oates
  4. Inferno by Dante Alighieri

I am super thrilled for this year's addition, Peril on the Screen. Both television shows and films count for this title, and it seems the number is unlimited.

There is no shortage of scary movies to choose from, and I'll be hitting up the television portion with Supernatural and Fringe soon!

If you haven't done so yet, you should immediately head on over and sign up!

  7. I am looking at my posting calendar, and I have already got four books that would qualify that have been read and reviewed! So why not right? I'm feeling very lazy, that is why. The back to school thing is getting to me. I do love this challenge!

  9. I haven't read Walking Moon yet, but I adore Elizabeth Hand and suspect she can do no wrong. The Virago anthology is great, and I need to read Soulless and Blameless too!

  22. Trisha -
I think your going to really love Soulless. Its so much fun. I hate most sex scenes in novels but she does and excellent job making it different... and it so funny. Gail Carriger is a hoot.
